One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned while playing the Assault class in Battlefield 6’s Gauntlet mode is that vertical movement is everything. Sure, gunplay and positioning matter, but nothing has changed my style more than the Assault Ladder. At first, I honestly thought it was just a fancy situational gadget. Then I started using it aggressively — and suddenly the whole game opened up.

The Assault Ladder completely shifts how you approach fights. In Gauntlet, where you’re constantly under pressure to secure territory and push forward, having the ability to instantly create your own high ground is massive. There have been countless moments where I dropped the ladder behind a small wall, scaled up, and suddenly found myself above two enemies who clearly weren’t expecting someone to appear from the sky. Surprise is a weapon, and this ladder gives it to you for free.

What I love most is how flexible it is. If my team is pinned behind cover, I can deploy it to climb onto a rooftop and force the enemy to split their focus. If we’re assaulting a building, I can silently climb to the upper floors instead of taking the stairs, bypassing traps and claymores. When you start thinking vertically, you stop fighting on the enemy’s terms — and that’s when you start winning fights you had no business winning.

Then there’s the M320 HE Launcher, which is basically the punctuation mark at the end of any assault push. People sometimes underestimate it because it’s not a “delete button” like a rocket launcher, but that’s a mistake. It’s the perfect finisher. Someone retreats behind cover? Pop a round and force them back out. Someone’s armor cracked but they’re running? One shot and they’re down. And if a group is hiding behind soft cover, you can literally destroy their protection and make them scramble.

Playing Assault isn’t just about taking fights — it’s about taking space. You’re the one who needs to break enemy lines, open paths for your teammates, and create chaos the enemy can’t control. Whenever I push forward with the ladder for a flank, crack armor with the M320, and watch my squad sweep in behind me, it feels like everything is clicking.

My biggest tip: use the Assault Ladder as often as possible. Don’t save it for “the right moment,” because the right moment is always. Every elevated angle is another unexpected threat you can create. Combine that with HE suppression from the M320, and suddenly you become the point of the spear that your squad can rally around.

If you’re someone who likes aggressive, creative gameplay, Assault in Gauntlet mode is one of the most fun roles in Battlefield 6. Just remember: your job isn’t just to fight — it’s to claim space, hold space, and make sure the enemy never feels comfortable.
